Captn Rob and the Nittany Lion

Greetings Campers,

Pull up your camp stool, pour yourself a cup of piping hot Mountain Grown Folgers coffee and hear my tail. Your tepid blogger Captn Rob was in the field this weekend. I traveled out east to pleasant valley. Home of the Penn State Nittany Lions. As I was traveling with non winter campers I was forced to camp inside this weekend. The travel group consisted of myself Mrs. Captn Rob, Camp Dork/ First Year Man Jayson, and Sales Trainer Bill. We stayed on the side of Mount Nittany overlooking Penn State’s Beaver Stadium.

The sun leaped over the mountain and we faced a crisp clear late fall morning bursting with anticipation of the day to come. When you run with campers sometimes you need to face the fact that you are going to be forced to rough it. Today was no different. We rolled out of our comfy beds and started congregating downstairs. Our gracious host, whose name will not be used to protect his reputation, already had breakfast waiting on us. Scarfing down a quick breakfast we headed out for the grueling five minute drive to the stadium. At the stadium we had to drive quickly past all the people standing in line to get in. Then we drove all the way to the front of the parking lot and actually had to park on the far side of the curb from the stadium in a reserved parking spot. From there we had the long hike across the street where we rode the elevator up to the top floor. Our ordeal didn’t end there though. Once we reached the top floor we had to walk all the way past three other suites before we reached our double wide suit. Once in the suite we had to endure large quantities of great food and beverages. The seats were padded and since it was so nice outside we raised the glass so we could hear the roar of 109,000 screaming fans. Ohh the brutality!

As the only Purdue fan I kept my enthusiasm in check. As Captn Rob I did this by drowning my enthusiasm, in gin and tonic. The game was fantastic. Both teams made a number of mistakes, but t kept the game close. The Boilermakers had an opportunity to tie the game up but faild to do so as the time ran out. Penn State wins. Oh well.

Good Food, Great Friends, Fun Game, in a Great Location! Sometimes its good to be Captn Rob!
